      We for sure have the ability to stop – we could stop the making of chemicals and processing of materials, or the generation of power. After all, the human race existed long before we had things like power stations or chemical processing plants. But, we would not be able to live the life that we currently have. It is up to the society of the future to decide to stop pollution, but most people would rather have a comfortable life over saving the planet! Its sad but true, and these things are always a trade-off between progress in technology and damage to the planet.
