Skin is our first and foremost defense against dangerous things in the environment, including disease causing organisms. That’s why most infections happen only if the skin has been breached (cuts, burns), or if it can be bypassed (openings like the mouth, eyes, ears etc.). For example, the bacteria I work with can’t infect normal healthy people but it has field day with burns patients because their skin defence has been compromised 🙁

Skin acts as a barrier to the body, its the first line of defense.

** (WARNING! NOT FOR THE WEAK STOMACHED)**
It is a horrible condition that occurs when your skin isn’t quite big enough for the body. it is more pronounced in babies born with it and most of those affected will die at an early age due to infections. 🙁
