      Yes, but the types of banana have been so tightly regulated in the european union that many places can only sell the one type. There are not so many as apples as bananas have been selectively bred and form what we call a ‘monoculture’. For commercial food uses there are not so many, but in the tropics diversity still exists.

      Even though bananas all look the same in Europe, you get a much bigger variety in South East Asia, where they originate. Personally, I really like the smaller and tastier (sweeter, more sour) ones you can get in places like Malaysia and Singapore.

      My parents have a red banana tree in their back garden, the bananas are delicious but you have to check that there arnt any spiders hanging inside the bundles!
