I don’t want to jinx it but I may have discovered a new species of foraminifera (a microfossil), it’s not as exciting as a dinosaur perhaps, but it’s exciting for me because if it IS a new species I get to name it.

I will call it Globigerinoides andyfoxi

“Globigerinoides” is the latin for family of microfossils it comes from and andyfoxi for my dad “Andy Fox” because he took me on my first fossil hunting expedition.

When I was in wales last month I found some worm burrows….pretty lame you might think? But when you consider the fact they were in rocks over 540 million years old, and they are evidence for the very first complex organisms on earth it’s pretty cool! You won’t find any fossils older than that!

I will go to the south west in a few weeks with my rock hammer and search for ichthyosaurs. Hard core lol
