  About 20 years ago many scientists would have said no, no way is this possible? However two major car companies have proved that this is not true Audi and McLaren have made cars that are extremely fast and are better for the environment than most cars. If we could make sure that all the heat from the engine stays in the engine (basically it does not warm the metal) we could get perfect performance but this is easier said than done.
