  Great question, I would say I am a ueing a cure scientist. In my mind if we find these things that could improve the way we live our lives, they surve no use to people if they in a researchers log book.

  I am more a research scientists because you never know when random discoveries will become crucial in the future: for instance it was studying differences in peas that led us to learn about genetics. Still, when money is hard to get by I can see the argument for focusing efforts on science that i already close to having applications (curing diseases).
