There is no one else at my university doing the same area of research, so there’s no one for me to competitive with! Definately in it for the funsies. I love learning new things and all the travelling I get to do as part of my research.

Money is normally not the main driver for any scientist. They do it because they love the job. However, sceince can also be cut throat aswell and very competitive. After all we all want that Nature paper, no-one wants to be known as the second person to discover something!
But people are in general very friendly but then thats life and the same anywhere.
I do enjoy the banter that happens during lab meetings and seminars!

I am doing my current research because I find it interesting and because I hope it will one day be useful to others. I am not very competitive since (hopefully) no one i trying to do the same things as me.
